2. ATO Will Release “The Woman in the Fifth” starring Ethan Hawke

North American rights to Pawel Pawlikowski’s “The Woman in the Fifth” have been picked up by ATO Pictures from Memento Films International. The psychological thriller stars Oscar nominees Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas, with a screenplay Pawlikowski adapted from a novel by Douglas Kennedy. ATO plans to release the film later this year.

ATO’s Head of Acquisitions Sarah Lash negotiated the deal with Meissner with Vicki Cherkas acting as ATO’s legal counsel.

In the film, American writer Tom Ricks (Hawke) flees to Paris to be closer to his young daughter, taken away by his French ex-wife. When he gets involved with a beautiful, mysterious widow (Scott Thomas), an obscure force seems to take control of his life.

“We’ve been huge fans of Pawel since ‘My Summer of Love,’” commented ATO co-founders Johnathan Dorfman and Temple Fennell in a joint statement. “It’s a great honor to be distributing his latest film. We were riveted by the material. Pawel has done an incredible job putting together a first rate thriller with a terrific cast.”
